Latin America cases pass two million as Trump rally defies virus

Latin America's case surpasses two million as Trump rally reverses virus

The number of coronavirus infections in Latin America has risen to nearly two million on Saturday, with more than half of the worst-hit areas in Brazil intensifying as the virus spread to the region.

Europe has endured months of lockdowns to slow down the virus, but at the expense of a crippled economy, further bans were further eased as tourists enjoyed the first Serie A football match between Spain on Sunday and Italy in 103 days.

In the United States, which has taken steps to reopen despite reports of a resurgence in 20 states, President Donald Trump claimed Saturday that his actions "saved millions of lives" when he addressed the first rally in months.

"Now is the time to publish and get back to work," he told a crowd in Tulsa, Oklahoma, even after six members of his advance team tested positive for Covid-19.
